Protest Camp Crackdown, Barcelona, May 2011
Ahead of a Champion League final game between FC Barcelona and Manchester United, the city council of Barcelona decided to clear Plaça de Catalunya from protest camps to clean the square. Security forces cleared the tents set up by protesters, and forced them off the premises. 121 light wounds were suffered from police truncheons. The action was televised and spread via social media. By the end of the day, the square was occupied again.
