The Afghan military has made progress in turning out more quality foot soldiers - now numbering 195,000. But with a desertion rate of 24%, and with major problems of corruption and a lack of a steady supply chain, many question whether the military can hold the ground beyond the US and NATO withdrawal in 2014.
