Kurdish People's Protection Units march into Tell Abyad, June 2015
Kurdish fighters of the People's Protection units (YPG) march into Tell Abyad, held by ISIS forces. Capturing Tell Abyad is significant in connecting the Kobane Canton and the Jazira Canton, it'll also help cut off ISIS's access to the Turkish border.
Capturing Tell Abyad from ISIS is part of a larger joint campaign between the YPG and Free Syrian Army (FSA) to liberate the Al-Raqqa Governorate from ISIS.
