Protestors Attack Police Protecting Kiev Pride March; Ukraine, June 2015
Individuals protesting Kiev’s June 6th LGBTQ/I Pride “March for Equality” attacked some of the 2,000 Police officers that were deployed to protect the event on Saturday. Despite the violence, holding the march with police support was a positive step for the country which remains one of the most dangerous places for LGBTQ/I individuals in Europe. Last years’ march was cancelled because of the police’s refusal to protect the marchers.
