Vigilantes Settle Local Scores With Boko Haram; Gombi, Nigeria, February 2015
Last year, Nigerian forces swept in and retook a series of towns that had been overrun by the extremist group Boko Haram in northeastern Adamawa state. But they did not fight alone: Local vigilantes joined in with makeshift weapons and helped the soldiers retake their hometowns.
