General Traore Briefly Seizes Control in Burkina Faso, 2014
General Honore Traore, the head of Burkina Faso's armed forces, took power on October 31, 2014, after Compaore resigned amid mass demonstrations against an attempt to extend his 27-year rule in the West African country.
General Honoré Nabéré Traoré is one of the two Burkinabé soldiers that claimed to be the head of state since the resignation of Blaise Compaoré in the aftermath of the 2014 Burkinabé uprising, the other one being Isaac Zida. Traoré has stated that a new election will take place in 60-90 days.
