Thousands of demonstrators gathered in Belarus's capital, Minsk, to protest current President Alexander Lukashenko's election campaign that would see him stay on as the nation's President for a 5th term.

Opponents of Lukashenko have cited a history of corruption and fraud in the nation's past elections, a claim supported by OSCE reports.

Belarus has been labeled "Europe's last dictatorship" by some Western journalists, on account of Lukashenko's self-described authoritarian style of government.
