Participants of Taiwan LGBT Pride 2016 gathered on Kaidagelan Boulevard right in front of the Presidential office building, waiting for the opening of the parade in the afternoon of 29 October. It is claimed to be the largest event among all the LGBT activities in Asia. The decorations of Taiwan's National Day on the early October could still be seen in this photograph, involving a signboard written, 'Taiwan is great because of you' in Chinese. Most people dressed or carried something rainbow to show their support for gender equality. The colorful flags indicate the certain groups such as political party that some of them belong to.

On the 6th of February 2016 an earthquake hit Taiwan. The epicentre was northeast of Pingtung City, Meinong District of Kaohsiung, Taiwan. The image shows the damage sustained to a branch of King's Town Bank.

Disputes over waters and islands in the South China Sea has been going on for years. China claims to have historical claims to 80 percent of waters and land in the South China Sea. Under international law, China has no claims to these areas. China has taken a more aggressive approach in recent times, taking over the Spratly Island, Parcel Islands, and continues to build their own islands for military purposes.

An earthquake struck a region to the northeast of Pintung City in south Taiwan on the 6th of February 2016. The earthquake, causing widespread damage and 117 deaths, had a moment magnitude of 6.4. The effects were more devastating in Tainan, approximately 300 km south of Taipei, than the epicentre owing to the soft nature of the soil which allowed surface ground to be amplified, thus creating more devastating effects in Tainan.

The 921 earthquake hit Jiji, Nantou County, Taiwan on Tuesday, 21 September 1999. The effects of the earthquake were significant and, as such, the disaster was described as the "Quake of the Century" by local media. Images show the rescue efforts of the Korean National 119 Rescue. This rescue team was one of many from around the world which came to aid the work of local relief workers

Generalissimo Chiang Kai-shek was the dominant political force in the Republic of China throughout the 1930s and 1940s, playing a prominent role in World War II, the Second Sino-Japanese War, and the Chinese Civil War. After the ROC's expulsion from Mainland China, he continued to lead from Taiwan until his death in 1975. Date unknown.
