Scenes from The Yemeni Civil War; Mar - Jun 2015
Taken on 2015-06-25 *
The images presented in this photo report capture scenes of devastation and human suffering caused by the ongoing Civil War in Yemen.
The plight of ordinary Yemeni civilians has worsened in recent months due to the introduction of air-strikes, which began on March 26 2015, conducted by Saudi Arabia and a coalition of nine Arab states, and the intensification of the civil war between forces loyal to the internationally recognized but contested President Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi on one side, and a coalition of Houthi forces and forces loyal to former President Ali Abdullah Saleh on the other side.
The Saudi-led intervention supports forces loyal to the Hadi government.
The combination of airstrikes and ground warfare has made the supply of critical aid to civilians extremely difficult. The UN estimates that 13 million in Yemen require immediate assistance. Due to the extensive violence, citizens of Yemen are unable to obtain the necessary aid.
